When Bluestar first brought Rusty to join her Clan, it was Longtail, barely out of the apprentices’ den and full of the brash arrogance Darkstripe had instilled in him, who loudly challenged the kittypet’s right to train as a warrior. The resulting fight, which left him with a scarred ear, was the start of the rivalry between the two toms. Longtail’s loyalty seemed to lie with his former mentor, Darkstripe, and the dark-hearted deputy Tigerclaw. But as Fireheart rises to become the fire to save the Clans, while Tigerclaw falls to become their gravest threat, will Longtail’s disdain for kittypets and loyalty to the dark-hearted warrior turn him away from his Clan? Or will faith in the warrior code and loyatly to what is good make Longtail a nobler cat than Fireheart would have ever guessed?
