Top five romantic moments from The Prophecies Begin

Danger and death constantly stalk the lives of the Clans, but between all of those moments, life goes on. And where there is life, there is love. The tricky ins and outs of romance can seem just as trying to these cats as the perils of battle – and its rewards even more gratifying. In this article, we will be examining the top five romantic moments in The Prophecies Begin!
5 – “I love you, too. And I know that you’ll bring us through tomorrow, whatever happens.”
In this chapter of The Darkest Hour, the time had nearly come for the final confrontation with Tigerstar, and Firestar was starting to truly feel what it meant to be the one leading his Clanmates into battle, knowing that some of them may not make it back alive. Through the mounting fear and pain at bearing such a burden, it was Sandstorm’s faith in her mate that kept Firestar from falling into despair. He invited her into his den for the night, unwilling to be alone with his fears, and allowed himself to take comfort in the cat whose opinion he valued so highly, believing in him so strongly.
4 – “I want you to come with us. You’re fast and brave, and the Clan needs you. I need you.”
Another Firestar and Sandstorm moment, this time from A Dangerous Path. Longtail had just told Fireheart about the dog pack living at Snakerocks and seeing Tigerstar feed them, and Fireheart was picking cats for a patrol to investigate. In this moment of true danger, when he’d finally have to face the pack that had been hunting his Clan the whole book, he wanted nothing more than to have Sandstorm at his side. Sandstorm was clearly still feeling their quarrel from earlier over his decision to go behind Bluestar’s back, but Fireheart expressed his deep trust for her and desire to have her at his side, and she voiced her understanding of his choices and hardships as deputy. The intensity of the moment got to both cats, and they finally confessed their love for each other.
3 – “Fireheart picked up the kit with his teeth, and left Graystripe beside the cat he had loved more than his Clan, more than honor, more than life itself.”
Fireheart wasn’t a fan of Graystripe and Silverstream’s relationship from the start, preferring his friend to keep his loyalty to his own Clan, but even he couldn’t deny the strength of the pair’s love for each other. When Silverstream died bearing his kits, Graystripe’s grief was devastating. Fireheart could only offer scant comfort by promising to mourn the RiverClan queen no matter what his own Clan or hers thought of it. While this scene from Forest of Secrets was one more of grief than joy, there was a certain tragic romance in the above line, as it truly embodied the strength of Graystripe’s love for Silverstream and how devastating being parted from her was.
2 – “Come back to us. I don’t know where you are now, but you have to come back.”
Throughout his nephew’s time in the Clan, Fireheart struggled with Cloudtail’s defiance, stubbornness, and lack of respect for StarClan or the warrior code. But when Brightpaw became injured by the dogs, Fireheart saw another side to his nephew, a gentleness and devotion he would have never guessed the young tom to be capable of. Cloudtail stayed by Brightpaw’s side through her early treatment, calling his uncle out for his role in Brightpaw not becoming a warrior either, and even demanding Bluestar carry out the dying apprentice ceremony for her. Even with his lack of faith in StarClan and uncertainty of where Brightpaw’s spirit might be while her body lay so grievously injured, he had faith in her to pull through and return to him and her Clan.
1 – “You’re still beautiful to me. You always will be.”
Another Cloudtail and Brightheart moment comes to claim the top spot. In this iconic scene, the cruelly-named Lostface finally got her first look at her new, scarred appearance after the dog attack. Cloudtail stayed by her side through this hard moment, assuring her that she was still beautiful as far as he was concerned. He also voiced his anger at Bluestar for sticking her with such a cruel name and vowed to never use it again. This fierce devotion and tender comfort shown in turn for the she-cat he cared so deeply for earns this moment the top spot on our list.
